Omegle started as a text-only chat service in 2009 and became very popular, getting over 3 million page views per month. In 2010, Omegle introduced the video chat feature that has become the platform's signature. To video chat with other users on the website, you need to grant access to your microphone and webcam, and after your face verification, you will be able to chat with other users.
Click the Text or Video button to start a chat, Omegle will match you with a random stranger. If you wish, you can use the unchecked section for video chat. You can add your interests (things you want to talk about) to find strangers with common interests. If no match is found, you will be connected to a random stranger instead. An interactive “Spy mode” gives you a random question by a third person who will watch the discussion of Stranger 1 and Stranger 2 on the topic. Or you can be the third person asking the questions. To end a conversation or start a new one, press the stop button or the esc key.
University students can enter a university email address ending in .edu or .edu.XX or .ac.XX to verify that you are in university. This will allow you to chat with other university students. For privacy, they do not reveal the full email address to other users, but instead only the domain (e.g. @domain.edu ). Omegle doesn't have any official mobile app available for Android or iOS, but the website works just fine in any web browser and provides the same chat experience you get on desktop.
Omegle is a good choice for a socialization platform where you can meet complete strangers with different opinions, interests, culture and have a casual conversation with them and be yourself.
